My life has taken many twists and turns before leading me to change my career to become a Qualified Counsellor working with Children, Young People and Adults. I returned to study aged 40 years, having divorced, and later qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist. I must admit, studying was challenging as a single Mum, however, I managed to get through it. Once qualified, I specialised working with Learning Disabilities which included supporting clients, families and carers. Within this role, it led me to think more about mental health and wellbeing which directed me to train further to become a Qualified Counsellor.
My Counselling training focused on working with adult clients and I wondered about also helping children. I therefore completed further training with 'Place2Be' in London, working in schools, so that I could also become a Counsellor working with Children.
Currently, I share my time by working for Counselling Community Agency with includes NHS IAPT (Adults Service) and working within Private Practice. I work with Children, Young People and Adults. I later completed my MSc in CBT & Counselling (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Brief Dynamic Counselling). I also completed my Advanced Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling. Within my therapy work I tend to work more as an Integrative Therapist, tailoring the therapy to the individuality of my client and their needs.
More recently I have completed my Advanced Clinical Supervisor training which includes supervising therapists, mental health professionals who work face-to-face, online and / or using the telephone.
I am DBS (Enhanced) Registered.
